Where we are now

"Our church is in a "marginalised" part of Wagga Wagga in SW NSW. Many people around us are unemployed or on low wages. Many of the children are in one-parent families.

The mission of our Parish is to be Christ in this area, providing acceptance and services to our neighbours.

Our Services each Sunday are led by one of our visiting clergy with Holy Communion Services most weeks. Services are fairly informal with great music and "Kids Church" for 3 to 11 year olds during sermon time. Everyone is welcome to stay for a cuppa after services.

The Parish is led by a Ministry Support Team of 5 lay people who co-ordinate our worship, groups, pastoral care, youth ministry etc.

Parish Council oversees the regular running of the Parish.

While the Parish has only a few regular worshippers on Sundays and cannot afford to pay a priest, we provide services and a helping hand to many in the area through the Ashmont Community Resources Centre which is jointly run by the Parish and Anglicare and is funded by FACSIA. The Centre which is in our church building Mon to Thurs is run by a co-ordinator and an indigenous worker.

Some of the many services provided include an internet cafe, Women's Health (Once every fortnight), Tax Help (a volunteer run program in July to October), Playgroup run by Save the Children 2 days a week, relaxaton classes, TAFE courses, a craft group, and a Court Outreach Programme (fortnightly)."

August 2009 ...

Our journey is continuing with God's blessings and Friends of the Parish who support us.
